Bessa Valley Winery was set up in 2001 in the outskirts of the Rhodope mountain, near the village of Ognianovo, in the South of Bulgaria. The winery spread on 250 ha carefully chosen after extensive research and detailed soil analysis.
A plantation density of 5,000 vines per hectare and a maximum yield of 50 hl/ha are the main ways of controlling production and harvesting only top-quality grapes.
Our network, made up entirely of highly qualified partners in their respective fields, is our strength. Woven over the years and tested in different contexts and problems for our customers, this trusted network propels our company towards its missions whilst delivering the best service for our customers.
The soil and climate in its intricate interaction is the source of all exceptional wine. This is what led us to the Bessa Valley.
The terroir of Bessa Valley is mostly based on clay and limestone soils and the wines from these great clay-limestone soils supply power and structure, but also acidity and minerality.
Perfect climate for wine production with hot summers, mild winters, south exposition, and low level of rainfall. The rushing winds are offsetting the excess temperatures of the continental climate.
The barrel cellar with capacity up to 2 500 barrels is dug into the rock, which is of a great significance for the preservation and maturing of the wines. The rock allows the maintenance of a constant temperature and humidity of the air. The winery has its own bottling line with capacity of up to 800 000 bottles a year.
Currently the yield from the Valley is around 650 tons of grapes. About 720 000 bottles of wine. Only acacia sticks are used to support our vines.
